About this app

The Liturgy is “the exercise of the priestly function of Christ. In it, sensible signs signify and, each in its own way, bring about the sanctification of men; in it, the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ - head and members - renders integral public worship to God” (SC 7). “The Church seeks, solicitously and carefully, that Christians do not enter this mystery of faith as strangers or mute spectators, but participate in sacred action, consciously, actively and piously, through a good understanding of the rites and prayers” (SC 48) .

The Liturgy of the Hours is the Church's prayer to Christ and with Christ. In it, Christ himself continues to exercise his priestly office through his Church. The Liturgy of the Hours, which is characterized by the sanctification of the entire course of time, day and night, includes the Office of Reading, Lauds, the Intermediate Hour (Tertia, Friday and Noa), Vespers and Compline. The prayer of the psalms is an essential element of the Liturgy of the Hours.

The LITURGIA app is the Portuguese version of the CEI App - Liturgia delle Ore, freely available. It is intended to offer a practical instrument of liturgical prayer and to associate all those who are unable to participate in a community celebration to the praises of the Church. The text is the official text of the Liturgy of the Hours and the Roman Missal of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference.

The LITURGY app incorporates a modern graphic design, accurate reading, navigation, search functions and a new audio player. It allows, with a series of convenient utilities, to insert bookmarks and personal notes to store, transport and share them in different ways. The application allows the possibility of saving a liturgical day for offline consultation of the text.
